SQUID FACT

Squid is classified in group cephalopods, Coleoidea subclass, order Teuthida. There are two major suborders of myopsina and oegopsina. Oegopsina is classified in giant squid group (giant squid).Teuthidia is the largest cephalopod order of about 300 species in 29 families. Researchers predict that there are about 200 species of squid that have yet to be identified. Generally squid has eight arms and two tentacles. There is also a kind of squid with 10 arms. Its tentackles serve to capture and to hold the prey with help of its arms. Each of the arms and tentacles have round inflatable  acting as a sucker  that strengthens grip. His arm will direct the prey  to the mouth. Each arm is connected directly to the head of the squid.

On his head was a large pair of eyes. Big eyes made it easy to find food and detect enemies. Squid  resemble fish by its body shape and has a pair of  fins at the end of the body. The combination of the body tube and active fins  give an advantage to accelerate and stop suddenly. One of its superiority ink is black ink. It will squirt the ink when it feels threatened. If the ink fountain splashes, it will cause our views are blurred in a few minutes. During this period squid was able to escape from the enemy. There are squid species that is capable of controlling the ink fountain to be released little by little repetitive.Among other benefits, is the existence of squid is chromataphores that helps to disguise the color of their surroundings. Chromataphore also function during mating ritual. During the process of disguise, chromataphores on squid body will produce light cloud that attract crabs and small fish to come nearby. The majority of the squid has a body length of not less than 40cm (24 inches). Giant squid are able to reach lengths of up to 14 meters (46 feet). The biggest squid can weigh up to 1,000 pounds. Humboldt squid capable to attack  shark  to make as food .Squid breathe using gills like fish and mostly able to live for a period of approximately one year. Squid like to live in a hot area and only a few live in a cool and deep.

According to scientists, the squid is a species that can be used as an indicator of the quality of sea water. Some said squid cant live in the contaminated area. Area containing squid showed that water quality is good. Squid live in groups and nomadic. Squid will follow the pattern of its food movement. It will stop in a safe area and have enough food. Squid also stopped for a moment at a location to spawn . Climate change, particularly global warming could inhibit the growth and reproduction of squid. Squid can digest food well in warm temperate areas. An increase in temperature lowers the survival of squid to live and reproduce. Global warming will also limit the presence of food such as fries, shrimp and crab.
